Letterkenny Golf Club. Parkland Course.
A welcoming parkland course set on elevated ground above Lough Swilly, just outside Donegal's largest town. Excellent value, panoramic lough views, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it ideal for visiting golfers looking for a day's play without the premium price tag.
Letterkenny Golf Club
Letterkenny Golf Club is situated on elevated parkland at Barnhill, just a short drive from Donegal's county town. Founded in 1913 and extending to 18 holes, the course offers a pleasant and well-maintained test of parkland golf with some genuinely scenic holes looking out over Lough Swilly and the surrounding hills of central Donegal.
At 5,888 yards and par 70, the course is manageable for players of all levels, with a good mix of short and medium-length holes that reward accuracy over power. The parkland setting provides natural shelter from the Donegal wind — a welcome contrast to the exposed links courses that dominate the county's coastal fringe. Tree-lined fairways, well-bunkered greens, and water hazards on several holes keep the mind engaged throughout the round.
Letterkenny is an excellent base for a Donegal golf trip — the town has a wide range of hotels, restaurants and shops, and the club is within easy driving distance of Ballyliffin, Rosapenna, and the Inishowen Peninsula courses. Green fees are among the most affordable in the county, and visitors can expect a genuine Irish club welcome on arrival.
