Bundoran Golf Club

Bundoran Golf Club occupies one of the most striking settings in Irish golf — a headland jutting into the Atlantic, with the famous Bundoran surf break below and the mountains of Sligo and Leitrim visible on clear days. Founded in 1894, this is one of Donegal's oldest clubs and the course carries all the character and quirkiness that comes with a century of golfing history.

At 5,657 yards and par 70, Bundoran is not the longest course in the county, but the Atlantic wind more than compensates. Playing into a stiff westerly on the front nine — with the ocean crashing beneath you and the fairways tilting toward the cliffs — is a test of nerve as much as skill. The back nine is slightly more sheltered, but the views remain spectacular throughout.

Bundoran is an excellent choice for golfers who want a genuine links experience without the premium green fees of the county's top courses. Visitors are warmly welcomed, no handicap certificate is required, and the club is conveniently located on the N15 just off the main Sligo road. The town of Bundoran has abundant accommodation, restaurants, and Ireland's best surf schools if non-golfing companions want to be entertained.
